Why I want to teach
Helping people for me has always been a passion of mine, from as young as six grade. Which is where I had the opportunity to spend time with kids who had special needs during my study hall when I lived in Dubuque Iowa.I got to play game with them, read to them and to them and eat lunch together.I had to sign up to able to participate but I can only sign up twice in one week because I had to give other people the opportunity to work with them as well. But I really enjoyed myself by doing this .towards the end of my seventh grade year I moved to Peoria Illinois The summer of my eighth grade year I found out my life would no longer be just about me I was pregnant with my daughter. When I gave birth to her I made her a promise that I will do everything in my power to provide her with the life she deserves. To do this I knew this meant I will have to finish high school and go off to college. So I had to make up my mind on what I wanted to go to school for. I have two things that in mind one was a teacher and the other one was a juvilne probation officer but teacher seem to feel the most right to me. from my experience and elementary, middle, and the high school in different cities and states I felt as though teachers have lost their passion for teacher.I want to help bring it back, kids deserve to have a chance in life and education is the only way I think will help.

Thank you for sharing a part of your story.
ReplyDeleteWhat a powerful promise to your daughter and to know that you are on the path to making good on it, despite your many moves.
I love how you saw yourself gravitating toward teaching as something that you could not stay away from. I am glad you had the opportunity to volunteer in other classrooms.
